Why should it be Ban Suan Durian Community?

       Ban Suan Durian Community is a unique tourist attraction located on a small island called Koh Yor in the Songkhla Lake Basin. Its coastal atmosphere blended with the surrounding nature is what attracts tourists. Ban Suan Durian located in the area of Wat Laem Pho, an ancient temple that has been on Koh Yor island for a long time. When traveling through the first section of Tinsulanonda Bridge, the largest reclining Buddha image in the world can be seen outstandingly on the open space. On Koh Yor, there is also Rim Lay Beach where the villagers sell local products on Saturday evening. In Ban Suan Durian community, tourists can cruise along Songkhla Lake around Koh Yor and observe fisherman’s way of living while admiring the beautiful and splendid scenery.

        As located next to Songkhla Lake, Ban Suan Durian community is very famous for its seafood, especially the soft and chewy dried squid with remarkable taste. The dried squid can be eaten with rice or being as a snack. Another example of famous local products from Ban Suan Durian is Koh Yor Woven Cloth with beautiful colors. It represents a symbol of traditional southern handicrafts as well as the best products for various occasions.

Ban Suan Durian Community

Krungthai Bank visited Ban Suan Durian and assisted the community to achieve sustainable development in accordance with the Community Based Tourism Standard (CBT) of the Department of Tourism. As a result, the community can effectively perform community management and tourism by themselves. In addition, the Bank, as a financial institution, used its capability to strengthen the community by providing financial literacy on financial planning, guiding them the access to financial technology as well as suggesting about the basic household accounting to enable the community to manage their income more effectively. Furthermore, the Bank also helped the community with online marketing to advertise the local products and services including tourist attractions to be more well-known.
