Krungthai Bank Creates Christmas Tree from Recycled Materials, Delivering Joy Creatively in a Sustainable, Eco-friendly Celebration
Krungthai Bank delivers happiness creatively through a Christmas tree designed according to circular economy principles, utilizing recycled materials such as plastic plates, trays, baskets, spatulas, and car reflectors as main decorative elements. Accompanying the Christmas tree is the sculpture of the bank’s symbol, the Vayupaksa bird, which represents freedom and prosperity and acts as a messenger of joy during the New Year festival.
The Christmas tree is displayed amidst colorful flower arrangements, becoming a new landmark on Sukhumvit Road that's ready to spread happiness and create smiles for everyone during this festive season.
Delivering Happiness... with Environmental Care
Delivering joy while caring for the environment is reflected through the concept of "100% Art from Recycled Materials," helping reduce landfill waste by 1,267 kilograms and avoiding greenhouse gas emissions from new material production by 4,256 kilograms of CO2 equivalent. This reinforces the bank's environmental vision to reduce impacts on nature and support the country's goals of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065.
Collecting Plastic Bottles... Promoting Circular Economy
The bank invites employees to participate in environmental conservation by bringing used plastic bottles for recycling, depositing them at the base of the Vayupaksa bird sculpture. This helps raise awareness about proper waste segregation. The collected bottles are donated to Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Waste Buy Delivery project for recycling—reducing waste for the benefit of both people and the planet.
From Waste… to Creative Art
This joy-spreading Christmas tree was designed by renowned artist Mr. Thanawat "Pae" Maneenawa of TAM:DA Studio, who transformed recycled materials into vibrant artistic pieces that convey fun and sustainable happiness. The project gives new value to seemingly worthless used items, turning waste into art.
Krungthai Bank's Christmas tree made from recycled materials serves as a medium for spreading happiness while reflecting the bank's commitment to environmental protection. It also aims to inspire everyone to learn about circular economy principles and participate and take action to change the world.
